Helping the Homeless November 2024

Helping the Homeless November 2024

In November 2024, Matt saw an ugly Facebook post bashing our local homeless community. Matt used to be homeless himself in 2009 and 2010, after he moved to Alaska from Florida during the housing crash.

Because of the kindness and compassion he received from total strangers, Matt was able to get back on his feet. That support helped him become the business owner we know today, the Matt behind 1st Class Delivery.

After seeing that post, Matt put a plan into action. The very next day, he went on Facebook and started asking for donations. He asked for shampoo, lotion, and any unopened personal care items people had sitting around. He also began collecting donations to buy knapsacks.

1st Class Delivery added funds of its own to purchase more items. Each “assistance bag” included water bottles, toothpaste and a toothbrush, shampoo and conditioner, body wash, and more. Just a few basics to help people who are really down on their luck and trying to get by.

Thanks to the community’s help and support, we put together nearly 100 bags for people in need. These bags were donated and distributed through the Cape Coral Police Department and FK Your Diet in Fort Myers, Florida.

Mound House is the kind of stop that gets better when you slow your pace. In May 2026, it still offers one of the most interesting visits on Fort Myers Beach, but the best experience comes from knowing what to focus on before you arrive. If you want history, bay views, and a c...

Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park is one of those Naples spots that makes a simple beach day feel like a real reset. In 2026, it still delivers the basics people come to Southwest Florida for, clean sand, clear water, birds overhead, and a pace that slows down fast. If you want a...

Mercato Naples works best when you treat it like more than a shopping stop. You can browse, eat, catch a show, and stay out long enough for the evening to take on its own rhythm. That flexibility is what makes it useful in 2026. Some people come for dinner and a movie. Others...

A day at J.N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge can feel full before lunch if you don't plan it well. The best visits start slow, with a drive, a trail, or a paddle that gives you time to notice the place. That matters in 2026, because the refuge calendar now includes ra...
