April brings warm days around 80 degrees, perfect for outdoor adventures. You avoid summer crowds here. Let's dive into standout spots that make downtown Fort Myers a must-visit.

Walk the Scenic Riverwalk

Start your day along the Fort Myers Riverwalk . This paved path hugs the Caloosahatchee River for over two miles. Palm trees sway as you spot historic homes and modern condos. Rent a bike or just stroll; families push strollers while couples chat.

Benches invite pauses for river views. Watch boats glide by or eagles soar overhead. In April, breezes keep it comfortable. Access points near City Hall make it simple to join.

For more details on events here, check the Fort Myers River District site. They list free concerts and festivals. After your walk, grab coffee from a nearby cart. It's pure relaxation.

This path connects to parks like Centennial. Play frisbee or picnic under oaks. Locals love it for sunset yoga too. You feel the area's charm right away.

Hit the Vibrant Farmers Market

Saturdays shine at the Fort Myers Farmers Market . It runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at City Hall through April 25 and beyond. Stalls overflow with gulf shrimp, tropical fruits, and handmade soaps.

Fresh oysters tempt alongside key lime pies. Chat with growers; they share harvest tips. Kids sample honey sticks while you snag artisan bread. Sunshine filters through tents for a lively buzz.

In addition, flowers burst in every color. Pick orchids or succulents for souvenirs. Live music adds rhythm as you browse. It's a snapshot of local life.

Nearby, the First Friday Downtown Market pops up monthly. Expect crafts and street food. These spots keep weekends fresh. Stock your picnic basket here before heading back to the river.

Savor Waterfront Dining Spots

Hunger hits after exploring? Head to waterfront eateries in downtown Fort Myers. Places line Hendry Street with river gazes. Try fresh grouper tacos or stone crab claws when in season.

One cozy table setup overlooks the water at sunset. Plates steam with seafood pasta; cocktails glow pink. Golden light bathes everything in warmth.

Casual spots serve oysters on the half shell. Others grill mahi-mahi with mango salsa. Portions satisfy without stuffiness. Servers recommend pairings based on catches that day.

Music Walk follows on Fridays and Saturdays, such as April 17-18. Bands play blues and rock from porches. Bars pour craft brews; the vibe pulses.

Galleries stay open late. Spot works by Southwest Florida talents. It's free, family-friendly, and electric. Check the April Art Walk page for maps.

Meanwhile, buskers strum guitars. Grab a spot on the curb. These events run over a decade strong. They blend history with fresh energy.

In November 2024, Matt saw an ugly Facebook post bashing our local homeless community. Matt used to be homeless himself in 2009 and 2010, after he moved to Alaska from Florida during the housing crash. Because of the kindness and compassion he received from total strangers, Matt was able to get back on his feet. That support helped him become the business owner we know today, the Matt behind 1st Class Delivery. After seeing that post, Matt put a plan into action. The very next day, he went on Facebook and started asking for donations. He asked for shampoo, lotion, and any unopened personal care items people had sitting around. He also began collecting donations to buy knapsacks. 1st Class Delivery added funds of its own to purchase more items. Each “assistance bag” included water bottles, toothpaste and a toothbrush, shampoo and conditioner, body wash, and more. Just a few basics to help people who are really down on their luck and trying to get by. Thanks to the community’s help and support, we put together nearly 100 bags for people in need. These bags were donated and distributed through the Cape Coral Police Department and FK Your Diet in Fort Myers, Florida.

Thanks to SJC Technology, Nick Rinella, Tyler Mattingly (Keller Williams Realtor), Aaron Killian with AKS Mobile Detailing, Amy Campbell with Campbell's Interiors & more, and Alex Ebel with Urban Buzz Coffee, plus contributions from yours truly at 1st Class Delivery, we donated about 600 pounds of turkeys, roughly 20 to 30 birds, to local food pantries this Thanksgiving. Our main beneficiary was the Harry Chapin Food Bank in Fort Myers, along with other local pantries.
